Why’s it even important?

There’s probably no need to mention the place YouTube has on the lists of most popular sites or something. We’ll go ahead and say YouTube is right after Google when it comes to website popularity. Many YouTubers (or more plainly – YouTube users) create WP websites that are complementary to their channels. It’s a great way to boost popularity, and we all know how hard it is these days to make people want to stay on your website a little longer. Even if they’re not on your channel (after the video from your channel’s over, and they suddenly start to watch a recommended video from another YouTuber), they’re still on your website. Alongside setting up business call forwarding from your WP website, this is one of the many popularity boosters available at your disposal.

A smartphone. One of the tips to show the latest videos from your YouTube channel in WordPress is concertned with obtaining the API key.
Before you start setting up the YourChannle plugin, you’ll need to obtain your API key from the Google Developers page.

Installation

You’ll need to click the Plugins tab to your left in the admin panel. Then you can click the Add New option. Once you’ve done that, type in YourChannel in the empty search box. Scroll down until you stumble upon the plugin we’re talking about, and click the Install Now button you really can’t miss.

Setting it up

You’ll find a new option in your Settings tab on the admin menu to your left, called YourChannel (well, of course). The time has come for you to finally set up the YourChannel plugin, which will allow you to display the newest videos from your YT channel right there on your WP website. Okay, let see what do we have here. Do you notice the first empty box on the top? That’s where you’ll need to insert the aforementioned API key. The standard default API key will work well with most major YT channels, but we’re guessing you want to display your own content, of course.

What’s next?

Once you’ve done inserting the API key, it’s time to let the software find your YT channel by typing in your username or the channel’s ID. If the info you’ve entered is correct, you’ll see your YouTube displayed below. Afterward, all that’s left for you to do is to change various settings available in the software (such as how many videos are loaded, the max number of videos shown, etc.). Once you’re finished doing that, just click Save, and that’s about it.

Shortcode pasting

The plugin will create a so-called shortcode for your channel. You can freely paste it into any of your WP pages. Wherever the aforementioned code is used, your YT channel banner and videos will be shown. The freshest videos will, of course, be presented first.

Congrats!

That’s pretty much all there’s to be done. As you can see, it’s not a difficult task. You just need to obtain the API key, install the program, fill up the empty boxes you find along the way and that’s it. Hopefully, we’ve successfully navigated you through the process.
