When it comes to setting up a marketing strategy there are different approaches you can take. You can try to study current marketing trends and see where your company sits in regards to them. Or, you can try to study your competition and see what they are doing right, and what they are doing wrong. But, the most tried-and-true way to set up a good marketing campaign is through user data. Unfortunately, not all user data is readily available. For some, you need to understand the basics of WordPress and at least be familiar with the types of data that are out there. So, with this in mind, we are going to elaborate on how to find hidden WordPress user data and then use it to grow your business.
Why you need to find hidden WordPress user data
Using user data to develop a marketing strategy is hardly a new concept. In fact, large-scale businesses tend to use user data as the cornerstone of both their marketing and general business decisions. The reason for this is that user data is far more reliable and less open to interpretation. And, when it comes to making costly decisions, you really ought to base them on as credible data as possible.
By utilizing user data you can figure out your users’ behavior and set up a strategy catered tailor-made for them. There are certain business decisions that can be only made by utilizing hidden user data. And only if you do so for a prolonged period of time. Therefore, even if you aren’t going to use the data soon, we would still recommend that you start collecting it.
Collect and use hidden WordPress user data
Collecting hidden WordPress user data, and understanding the nature of your business go hand in hand. As you will soon learn, there are different types of user data that you can collect, and different ways in which you can utilize it. So, to make the most out of it, you need to have a firm grasp of your business and how various types of data can help it. That is the only way to avoid collecting redundant data and wasting your resources.
Install Google Analytics
The gist of collecting hidden WordPress user data is using the right plugins. But, to use those plugins, you first need to install Google Analytics. If you are sure how to add Google Analytics to WordPress, we’ve covered that in a previous article. Know that Google Analytics is pretty much a must-have tool for marketing. So, whether you’re are trying to collect hidden data or now, you should have it installed and at least learn the basics.
Use MonsterInsight to track user data
If you are only looking for basic hidden user info, the MonsterInsight is what you need. With it, you can learn where your users are coming from, how they experience your website, and which pages they prefer. Installing MonsterInsight is fairly simple, as it is a well-optimized plugin. Once you install it, simply head on to the Insights -> Reports page. There you will find various data that you can use to expand your business. MonsterInsight is especially useful in boosting conversion rates and enhancing user experience.
Use WPForms to track Geolocation
Knowing where your users are coming from can be a key part of your marketing campaign. By having this data you can orient your efforts properly, and not waste resources on areas with little-to-no engagement. Well, the easiest way to collect the Geolocation of your users is with WPForms. To utilize it properly, you will need to opt for the pro version. Once you’ve installed it, head on to the WPForms -> Addons page. There you can find the Geolocation Addon and install it.
Once you do that, head to the WPForms -> Add New page to create a new form. There you will need to choose a form template and input a name for your form. After choosing the template and filling out the specifications, you can then create your form and add it to WordPress. By doing so, you can view form entries. Simply head to the WPForms -> Entries. If you click on the View button, on the right side, you can see the entry details, including the Geolocation.
Track user journey with WPForms
One of the common things you will hear when designing a website is that it needs to be intuitive. By this, we mean that the website should have a natural flow to it. By design, it should guide user’s attention from their search to eventual conversion. Well, making such a website is easier said than done. To do so, you need to understand users’ behavior and what their journey is like on your website. Luckily, this is another aspect where WPForms can help out.
Similarly to tracking Geolocation, you need to head on to the WPForms -> Addons and install the User Journey Addon. Once you activate it, the addon will track the user journey. You will be able to view which pages the user visited, and what lead them to conversion.
Track automatic email logs with WP Mail SMTP
Most websites use emails in an automatic fashion. There is usually a setup where the website will send a verification email for any noteworthy action that the user has with the website. For instance, registering, or making a purchase. But, what most websites fail to do is to use the email data of the users to improve their email marketing. Well, this is another instance where you can find hidden WordPress user data and use it to your advantage.
First, you need to install the WP Mail SMTP plugin. Once you’ve installed it, head on to the WP Mail SMTP -> Settings and check the checkbox in the ‘Email Log’ section. Once you do this, you can access email info by heading to the WP Mail SMTP -> Email Log page.
